    Default Transocean Deepwater Horizon Tribute

There is a wonderful tribute video put together by a Transocean radio op. It looks like it features work and personal photos of the 11 missing.

Could someone on this thread direct me to a schematic of how the riser,BOP stack(s),etc are configured for these deepwater drilling operations? I have over 40 years experience in shallow drilling and production operations in Southern Illinois but have never worked offshore primarily because I don't lke being away from my family. I realize this is primarily a marine site but there seems to be a lot of knowledgable drilling people commenting here so I thought I would ask.

Just heard a "Securite" broadcast on Ch. 16 at 1930 from the Development Driller III (DD-III) reporting that they were departing location. Anybody know whether they are heading over to the Horizon well site?

Never mind. I just read a BP website that confirms that the DD-III is headed that way. Good Luck to the crew of the DD-III. Wish I was with them helping out however I can.

Thank you for posting the link to that video.
I have FB, but I wish someone would put it on YouTube for those who don't have FB. I'd like for as many to see this as possible.

    Again, thanks.

"In 2002, the rig was upgraded with "e-drill", a drill monitoring system where technicians based in Houston, Texas receive real-time drilling data from the rig and transmit maintenance and troubleshooting information."

    Anyone scene this data yet?

Certainly worth watching. Good post. Just be ready to have a tear jerked out.

Obviously they're trying to close the shear rams to shear off the pipe and close the well. What are further options, sub sea persons, if a tool joint happens to be spaced out in the BOP at the shear ram?

Do not hold your breath on ever seeing that. This well was exploratory and everything was locked down on one specific floor at bp's office in HTX. If you ever see the data it would be after many trials and if someone stole it. I doubt seriously this data will EVER be public.

Angry Re: Transocean Deepwater Horizon is on fire

I don't know about ya'll, but I'm appalled that our President has not publicly acknowledged our loss in the Oilfield.

Many of us have gone to www.whitehouse.gov/contact , entered our personal information, and then other in the next box wrote the following shared letter:

    President Obama,

I would like to know why you acknowledged the tragic loss of coal miners in West Virginia, but have yet to offer your public condolences to the families of the 11 men who died on the Deep Water Horizon on April 20, 2010. There are thousands upon thousands of Americans who were affected by this great tragedy. This country lost 11 great men, and another dozen were injured and needed hospitalization. There are 11 American families who will never feel the same because they lost their father. Then there are the rest of us who will never feel the same about our husbands and loved ones leaving for work.

    These men are our heroes.
I remind you that we are tax paying citizens who also exercise our American right to vote.

I suggest that you have a little compassion for a population of hardworking families who are grieving right now.

    Sincerely,

    ************************************************** **********

We suggest/encourage you that if you feel the same way we do, to do the same. You may copy and paste what we wrote. We also clicked the box at the bottom that wenwould like a response. Let's see how many of us can get Mr. President to acknowledge our loss.

    God Bless,

I am in 100% agreement. O gave a statement a few days after the Coal Mine explosion and gave the eulogy for the mine workers. I have yet to see anything from DC about this.
