It's funny I was reluctantly made a division officer my Sr year of cadet cruise. Every morning I would tell the division that acronym and ask for a volunteer. Every morning one of the dozen "top" cadets would eventually raised their hand and were sent to the trash compactor. This went on for over 2 months... they either never learned or couldn't help themselves.

During the first couple of days of bootcamp we would be asked "Who has a drivers license?"
Eager teenagers would jump up and do the "I do, I do" dance.
The Chief would then pass out brooms and say "Here...drive this around."

This happened several days in a row.

That's funny nothing that funny ever happend when I was in Boot. Also I thought NAVY stood for Need Any Vasiline Yall

I had never heard that one before...

I don't think we had any funny moments in boot camp either....When someone screwed up and had the potential of having a funny situation ,it was always short lived because they punished all of us for it....lol..

MASH- Make A Sailor Hurt!!! I remember those days to clearly. A sister company across from us had a CC who would come in drunk in the middle of the night and MASH them good. Glad my CC was bucking for BMSC, and got it right before we graduated color company.

Paul, I haven't heard that term except from the bootcamp at Great Lakes ..Is that where you were at?

HAH!! I was in Co.103 , I think it was 17 th division...Why is it we can remember useless information like that? I would be happy to just remember 1/2 of my stability formulas so easily...

I went back there 2 years ago for my daughters graduation...The buildings have been remodled but the grinders were still the same, I recognized them immediatley...When you spend that much time ,up close and personel with asphalt and concrete it kinda grows on you...

We spent a lot of time marching on the grinder. Hours upon hours. Paid off, as we were only company in grad class to have all 3 "old yellows". Any of you hear and/or remember the "flying breakdown", Cool maneuver for a bunch of "boots". Where did you do service week. I got stuck in the scullery. Talk about "HELL!!". All in all, boot was a lot easier than I was expecting.

I did mine at 924 days ( more brain cells wasted)...lol..It was where they wharehoused the galley and food supplies...After chow we got to sleep for a few minutes..It was heaven...

Somehow I ended up in San Diego for boot even though I enlisted in Massachusetts. I went out to San Diego last year and the RTC is now a bunch of condos.. very sad. But I got to do my A School in Gt. Mistakes.. joyous place that it is Fortunately I was in San Diego from Dec-Mar for RTC and Gt. Lakes from Apr - Oct for A School. Missed all of the really foul weather in the Midwest.

When I was in boot camp, a wave and a sailor that met during service week, climbed to the top of the water tower held hands and jumped off. then the day before graduation the SP's came in and arrested a guy in my company for being AWOL from the Army. A lot of crazy stuff went on, but nothing compared to what I saw out in the fleet
