Spend as much time as it takes to learn how to find CFRs in the books. That part drove me nuts, and it still does, but if you can get comfortable looking up regs and know where to find them you will zip through big chunks of the test. It takes a bit of time but after a while you will develop a feel for which chapter covers what they are asking. If it helps any, I found the 1st and the chief tests (separate when I did it) were way easier than the 2nds. The 2nds was a real bitch for some reason and the chiefs was a no brainer ... go figure.

I can promise you will feel a thousand pounds lighter after knocking out that last and final battle with the CG, I floated out of the REC when the guy gave me the thumbs up after the last module. Good luck and try not to sweat it too much. Rick

The thing about CG tests really is not so much what you know but how good you are at understanding what they are asking. It is like a stupid game to trip you up sometimes so read them carefully. One good part, if you haven't already noticed it, is that they tend to ask the same thing several different ways and very often the answer to one question has already been provided in another one on the test, so read back and read ahead looking for similar questions that are worded differently. I know it sounds crazy but it is like you are in a contest with the CG with a license as a prize.

Hi. I was going to respond but it looked like you were getting some pretty good information anyway. When I was crawling through the hawespipe I would just go through all the test questions looking for areas where I was weak. As far as books go, the Navy manuals are great and they are used by the CG as you can tell by the illustrations. If you can find them, the MEBA upgrade books are excellent as well. But the bottom line for me at least was to just read and read and read the test questions and really work on the areas where you keep getting it wrong. Don't try to remember questions but learn the concept they are looking for and learn how they like you to answer.
