Default I have a question Please help

Training institutions that can lead to a third mate's license include the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (deck curriculum), the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and any of the state maritime colleges, or a three-year apprentice mate training program approved by the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard.

I am currently attending the Caribbean Maritime institute and am planning to migrate to the USA after completion. How do i know if my 3 yea rprogramme is approved by the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard?

Please refer to 46 CFR 10.201 sentence (e). This has the requirements for license in regards to citizenship. This will more and likely be first importance followed by the USCG approval of the Carib Martime Inst.

You can check the USCG NMC website for a list of approved courses.

    1. Your three year program is not approved.
    2. If you migrate to the USA, you will not be able to hold a license as a Third Mate until you are a US Citizen.
    3. Maybe you should rethink migration.
