Are there any opportunities? As an Engineer yes. As a Deck Officer no, you can't be colorblind and obtain a deck license.
Just got accepted to CMA as a Marine Transportation major. Tried the Ishihara test online and failed miserably. In real life I can see colors fine, but can' t pass that Damn test. Is it true that I can take any test as long as I pass one. And can I take this test before the Academy so I know. Also, is there any opportunity for a Marine Transportation grad who is colorblind?

there's like 5 different color blindness tests that you can take. i'm sure if you go to an eye doctor they can find one for you.
Locate a Dr. that has access to a Farnsworth Lantern for an color exam. Most DOT physical examiners do not know of the existence of this exam.
Check with a flight school or university of optometery.
You may have to do some digging to find one.
The Ishihara exam was developed by a Japanese psychologist quickly and cheaply determine the statistical number of color vision deficient individuals in a large population. It is a screening device not an indication of you ability to see specific colors.
Unlike the Ishihara exam the Farnsworth requires distinction of different colors and intensities that you will see in real life.
If you can't pass a Farnsworth Lantern exam you shouldn't pursue an occupation that is color dependent such as operating a boat, plane or train.
