Unemployed Container Capacity Reaches 1.35 million TEU 435 containerships laid up around the world! Just last year shipbuilders booked the greatest volume of new construction orders for containerships ever and now it is possible that when those ships are delivered, they'll go straight to the dock. What does this mean for all other types of merchant ships? Can't be good... Anyway, it's a bloody shame that the US build requirment of the Jone's Act be bent to allow Horizon Lines to buy some these ships for cheap...they need to replace there ridiculously ancient fleet something awful! |
