Getting into it...

Hey all I am new to the forums.

Im trying to get into the osv or inland barge industry. I have completed my AB and lifeboatman course recently. With the sea time I have I will be able to obtain an AB unlimited. I also have a 100 GRT capt. License which I used as a captain on passenger vessels for 3 years. My question is what are some companies to apply for without having any osv or barge experience? Also do you recc. that I actually have the AB/Lifeboat in hand, or begin applying while im still in the process of obtaining it through the NMC? Any info will help!!!

this question keeps getting asked over and over here...just go back through older threads and you will find all the answers ye seeks.

It's just that to keep answer the very broad questions you ask is difficult to do so when you have gone thru the old threads then come back with specific questions and we'll all be glad to help answer them for you.

There is an awful lot of good info all around this website. Do you have STCW 95? If not I thought that was a prerequisite to get your AB issued nowadays ?
