Has anybody dealt with these people? What kind of companies do they use? Just wondering if these guys are honest

I have used him and he has always been honest with me and hasn;t done anything wrong that I can tell. He will also work with you unlike a lot of the others. I use him when I have to use a headhunter.

Last year he found me some work on an oil skimmer when work was real slow, and the fee I though was fair.

He charges a fee. Don't use anybody who charges you for employment, it is the only way we can eradicate these people preying on the Mariners. As far as the HR people that are getting kickbacks from these Headhunters, they are co-conspirators in violation of the below statue. I have contacted several Attorney Generals offices concerning this matter but may need to circulate a petition for them to take some serious action.

Head Hunters and HR people beware.

individual seeking employment as a seaman, remuneration for
providing the seaman or individual with employment, is liable to
the Government for a civil penalty of not more than $5,000.

Sec. 10505. Advances

(a)(1) A person may not -
(A) pay a seaman wages in advance of the time when the seaman
has earned the wages;
(B) pay advance wages of the seaman to another person; or
(C) make to another person an order, note, or other evidence of
indebtedness of the wages, or pay another person, for the
engagement of seamen when payment is deducted or to be deducted
from the seaman's wage.
(2) A person violating this subsection is liable to the United
States Government for a civil penalty of not more than $5,000. A
payment made in violation of this subsection does not relieve the
vessel or the master from the duty to pay all wages after they have
been earned.
(b) A person demanding or receiving from a seaman or an
individual seeking employment as a seaman, remuneration for
providing the seaman or individual with employment, is liable to
the Government for a civil penalty of not more than $5,000.
(c) The owner, charterer, managing operator, agent, or master of
a vessel seeking clearance from a port of the United States shall
present the agreement required by section 10502 of this title at
the office of clearance. Clearance may be granted to a vessel only
if this section has been complied with.
(d) This section does not apply to a fishing or whaling vessel or
a yacht.

well, when you dont have money to go sit in a motel for days and gas money to drive all over Texas and LA to go to companies that wont hire you because they dont get a kickback it pretty much leaves you going to a headhunter.

I used him and charged me of my three days pay. So, if you get paid $300/day, then you'll pay him three days of your pay and he wants you to pay him first before God.

He has called me a couple of times for jobs, but I was working so no go....

He does charge a fee. I thought it was 4 days.

There are other companies that do not charge, (C-Mar, Oceanwide).
