So we are going to creat a job board that's free and easy for employers to post jobs AND free for mariners to view jobs. This way we hope to attract all employers and get the highest number of quality listings for our users. How will we make money? Same as here... banner ads to non-members and good word of mouth for our services at unofficialnetworks.com. We are also playing with the idea of charging companies for "premium" featuers like searching resumes or "featured listings".
    What to you guys think?
The site is already built, we are just working out the bugs. If anyone is interested in participating in the Beta release (i.e. you get to use the job board in return for submitting bug reports) post a comment and I'll add you to the list.
Really good idea. I'd be happy to be a test subject..., I mean beta tester for this project. PM me when you get a chance.

I'm not going to keep repeating myself.
The job board beta is an old post look at the date and look at the top right of your screen. There is the "Jobs Board". It is no longer in beta format.

Living in NYC for the SI Ferry job is not a requirement? It is for NYC DEP marine section crew.

No, it is one of the few NYC jobs tht doesn't require New York residency. It is for the passenger ferry from Staten Island to lower Manhattan.

I'm not sure that you'd want to live outside NYC, the job is day work, correct? I was under the impression that the ferries had no crew quarters. At any rate living nearby would probably be easier albeit expensive. Not a bad way to get unlimited tonnage time either.

Rob - I do believe you are correct on that one. Must be time to submit the annual paperwork to the USCG/CBP for approval of foreign crews since there is no qualified mariners in the USA!!!!

Very true. It is day work. They have no crew quarters. I live in Jersey within commuting distance, but unfortunately don't have the required sea time. It's a good city job with a great city pension and benefits!
