Seaport will negotiate the fee with you.
Rick Ely who owns Compass Marine used to work for Seaport.
Just about every head hunter out there got their start working for another head hunter.
I always use head hunters as a very last resort. Like I have no money and mortgage is behind last resort.
They send you on jobs that no one else wants on junk ass equipment for substandard companies. Why else would a company need to use a head hunter that charges you to find an employee for them.
Once you sign that contract they got you by the short and curlies. Even if you get fired or quit.
Head Hunters won't admit it but some can actually find you a pretty decent job because they give untraceable cash kickbacks to the personell men at these companies.
Go ahead and sign the contract and see what they throw your way.
Just do your homework on the company before you accept the job.
Don't let the head hunter pressure you. If the job can't wait 2 weeks for you to put in notice or make up your mind it is too good to be true.
If they need someone tomorrow there is a reason for this. They probably just fired a guy with no notice and will do the same to you if it suits them.
Beware
Mike
Very factual post, headhunters are bottom feeders. Scum of the earth and it should be illegal what they do. I would rather let the bank take my house than pay those scumbags 14 days pay for a crappy job on a deathtrap.

Latest news that I've heard regarding the Haiti High Speed Relief is that they are deactivating one of the two boats. Probably a surplus of crew at this point...
