The selected candidate will operate an 11-m RHIB in support of an oceanographic research and test program utilizing unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs). He/She will also fabricate, assemble, and wire components for autonomous maritime vehicles in support of an oceanographic research and test program.
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
Operate boats and dockside equipment to support prototype UUV testing

Install components such as sensors, propellers, and other experimental components

Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years experience in boat mechanics with demonstrated proficiency in the troubleshooting and resolution of a wide variety of boat-related electrical and mechanical issues
Experience with light machine work including drilling, cutting, and welding
Proficiency in soldering
Experience in troubleshooting complex and immature systems that change frequently
Experience maintaining and operating Yanmar diesel engines
Ability to travel on occasion to Cambridge, MA office for meetings and training
Also desirable
Experience as a forklift or crane operator
Experience working with autonomous vehicles or robots
Experience as a small boat operator
Prior military experience in the US Navy or US Coast Guard
An active or inactive security clearance
U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

The Marine Vessel Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of 24 foot utility and 32 foot landing craft in the Wainwright, Alaska/Chukchi Sea near shore operating area in support of oil spill response operations. The Marine Vessel operator will also provide general oil spill response labor and equipment operations support as assigned. Equipment may involve oil skimmers, boom, and other ancillary gear. Must be willing and capable of following all safety policies and procedures. The Marine Vessel operator is responsible for supervising a crew of up to four deckhands and is responsible for ensuring the crew works in a safe manner per company safety policies and procedures.
Required Skills
This is a rotational position expected to work a 3X3 (three weeks on and three weeks off) schedule. Hours of work are generally 6am to 6pm, 12 hours per day, seven days per week, totaling 84 hours per work week. The main work site for this position is Wainwright, Alaska (North Slope) but may vary depending on work demands. Roundtrip travel from Anchorage, Alaska to the work site is provided.
