actually its picking back up lost out on few jobs this week though from head hunters because i wasnt in the 985 going go down in week or 2 as its picking back up and if u ab unlimited they been getting some jobs pop up but I'm just AB special. From I been reading seeing etc looks like March going be picking back up

I hope to god you are right!! I have a job but Im wondering if ill ever get to move up and use my Mate of Towing, I didnt get it to keep on being a deckhand.

Hi I'm an AB unlimited what are the best headhunters to use for seamen?in the 985 or 504 area code?

Just remember if you use a head hunter and he try's to charge you, be sure to report them to the states Attorney Generals office for violating the following statue. I have contacted several state Attorney Generals office as well as Eric Holders office asking why no one was enforcing this statue. I even supplied all of their names as well as their contracts and websites as proof of their violations.

(b) A person demanding or receiving from a seaman or an
individual seeking employment as a seaman, remuneration for
providing the seaman or individual with employment, is liable to
the Government for a civil penalty of not more than $5,000.

Sec. 10505. Advances

(a)(1) A person may not -
(A) pay a seaman wages in advance of the time when the seaman
has earned the wages;
(B) pay advance wages of the seaman to another person; or
(C) make to another person an order, note, or other evidence of
indebtedness of the wages, or pay another person, for the
engagement of seamen when payment is deducted or to be deducted
from the seaman's wage.
(2) A person violating this subsection is liable to the United
States Government for a civil penalty of not more than $5,000. A
payment made in violation of this subsection does not relieve the
vessel or the master from the duty to pay all wages after they have
been earned.
(b) A person demanding or receiving from a seaman or an
individual seeking employment as a seaman, remuneration for
providing the seaman or individual with employment, is liable to
the Government for a civil penalty of not more than $5,000.
(c) The owner, charterer, managing operator, agent, or master of
a vessel seeking clearance from a port of the United States shall
present the agreement required by section 10502 of this title at
the office of clearance. Clearance may be granted to a vessel only
if this section has been complied with.
(d) This section does not apply to a fishing or whaling vessel or
a yacht.

the ones i have done business with are john davis at NORTHSTAR MARINE, Kelly sweeny, Janet berry and Ameriforce.................KELLY SWEENY has done NOTHINGand the other three have done very little.
In fact John Davis rarely answers his phone.....if you go this route be very careful as they don't really care about you just the money they pocket from getting you a job...I have an AB UNlimited w/STCW and have been out of work for 15 months..............if this keeps up i will go from retarded to retired all in one motion.

I am in the same boat as you.. I got a 200 master and mate of towing N.C. pic tankerman and ab limited, BRM and all.. I'm lucky to be employed.. although the company I work for sucks badly, I still have a job, but I'm hoping this economy comes around! most of these companies are hacking big money blaming on the economy, this outfit I work for just bought 2 barges, built one tug and now is building another one plus bought a tug plus, hired a few worthless office people.. and we had to say goodbye to our safety bonuses and double pay for all holidays.
yeah, blame it on the economy...

If you are ab unlimited try progressive marine they had some jobs for unlimited in last two weeks but I'm not unlimited
