Default Clean-up employment in the Gulf

My friend's son contacted me and asked for help getting a job in the Gulf Region working on the cleanup. Question: Is NRC hiring muckers and what documentation are they likely to require? I'd guess they are hiring local people, but I thought I'd put the question out there.
    Thanks in advance,
    bb

Hey Capt Brucato I think if all is done right and they are hiring people they should at least have a 24hr hazwopper now I dont know how they are doing it maybe they will train him I dont know but he can take the hazwopper on line I think the 24hr is $200 and the 40hr is $350 I would say take the 40hr he will go further with that.

    Good Luck

    Not sure about NRC..

I did work indirectly with some guys from a company called EH&S or maybe ES&H, one of the two, out of Houma,La..From what I could gather they weren't required to have TWIC or MMC's but had attended a hazwhopper course...The pay was low in my opinion...

Thanks for the replies, I'm passing along a link to this post for him to read and decide. I expected it would be a minimum wage thing.

NRC is looking for operators for 100 tn mud boats for oil spill clean up in GOM. Must have good track record, and be willing to work for low wages. 450 a day/capt. They will send you to hazwoppr and crane hoisting course. (and pay you while you go) This may be worth it, just to get a real hazwopr and hoist license!

Some may need this work, so pass the info around.

    www.nrcc.com

They arent specifically looking for deckhands. they need licensed captains (with experience on 120' vessels)

the deckhands dont even need twic, or MMCs to work oil spill cleanup.
