    Default Msrc

Does anyone know anything about this company? I was looking through Workboat today and saw they had an ad in the back, but I've never heard of them (and their web site's pretty ambiguous--aside from: we're hiring). Anybody know how big their ships are, what the pay/schedule's like, benefits, etc.?

They operate oil spill response vessels in ports all around the three coasts. You have to work on them during the week at the dock doing what I have no clue and never be more than 2 hours away on call in case there is a spill. You're supposed to always have a pager on you for that purpose.

The reality is that in the spill cleanup biz, the vessels are a joke and nobody ever wants to use them if not absolutely necessary, so the chances of being called out to actually work are slim at best.

Lastly, as you would guess, the pay is substandard

When things in the business are slow like they are now, those jobs that are available are jobs that nobody wants vis TansAtlantic Lines, MRSC, et all...

Keep what you have but push for the foreign vessels in the Gulf to be manned by U.S. mariners. What is being lost are the opportunities for Americans like us to be able to work on highest quality vessels at excellent pay!
