The North Atlantic Hurricane Season begins on June 1st and some of the weather models are suggesting that tropical cyclone development is possible over the western Caribbean Sea early next week. Current satellite images show quite a bit of low-level moisture over the southwestern Caribbean with scattered shower activity west of 70W extending across portions of Panama, Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Mariners transiting the western Caribbean will have to keep an eye on this area next week.
