Default Northern Hemisphere Tropics becoming active again

On Aug 18th and 19th there were no active tropical cyclones anywhere in the world which was highly unusual for mid August. Since then a a few new tropical depressions have popped up with 1 in the North Atlantic.

    Weather Underground Tropical Storm Chart

The North Atlantic depression (TD6) is well organized and close to becoming a tropical storm and conditions are expected to become favorable for this system to become a hurricane in about 72 hours. Current steering suggests that a turn northward is likely into the North Atlantic shipping lanes somewhere between about 50W and 60W longitude. Ship traffic should watch this closely, especially between August 26th through the first week of September.
