Default Tug Aries crew are OK

For those of you that might have heard, Doug's tug sank out from underneath him this morning in the Bering Sea. He was able to get himself and his crew safely to the barge in survival suits and eventually they were rescued by a USCG Jayhawk helicopter. All 4 crewmembers are now safe on St. Paul island.

Thank goodness I didn't listen to this until after I heard he was ok:

    My crew:
    Drew Williams
    Scott Wilson
    Jasmine Abovian

and I are safe and sound on St. Paul Island. We're trying to figure out how to get home without pissing off the TSA since we can't prove we are who we are.

I'm sorry to have somehow gotten myself into another sea drama.

I'm thrilled and joyous that the four of us make it off the tug. It was calm, cool, collected, and professional on the part of all of us. Not a scratch on anyone. Coming alongside the barge in 6 foot seas, listing 30 to starboard and holding it there long enough to get us all on board was the most challenging boat driving I've ever done. I had time to go all stop and center the rudder, and then I was across.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers, from all of us.

    Doug

Glad to hear you're all safe and sound!

As for TSA, just go to the bar, have a drink, write your name down on the back of the coaster (a napkin works better, but the coaster looks more official), and tell them it's your TWIC. They don't know the difference anyway.

    Doug,

Good to hear that you and your crew made it onshore safely!

As I get ready to go back to work myself, this is a sobering reminder that anything can happen once you untie the lines and head out to sea. All the safety training is for real. Hopefully if I ever get in such a situatiion my training will carry me through. Would be interested in hearing more of the details if and when you felt comfortable sharing them. Maybe we can all learn something from your experience?

Glad you're ok! I was on a harbor tug that sank quite a few years ago. It was not scary, as it was in slow motion and inland, bit still very surreal!! Welcome to the sunk tug club!haha

Doug, If you wanted a helicopter ride you should have just called me, you didn't have to sink a tug to get it. Looks like the Gcaptains most experienced mariner just had another experience. LOL Glad your all safe.
If you hear me yell "Eject,"Eject Eject. the last two will be echos. If you stop to ask why? you'll be talking to yourself, because by then you'll be the Pilot
