Default New Account first posting problems

I know I had a problem where I joined the forum but could not figure out why I wasn't allowed to create my first post. At the bottom of each forum it stated my account was not authorized to do anything but view the forums. After searching every forum, link, and searching the forum, I couln't not find anything regarding activating an account for the first time. I finanlly used the "Contact us" link at the bottom of the forum and asked if there was a problem with my account that was just created. I figured I has missed clicking some activation link or some other type of anti-spam feature.

I am posting this because I was just contacted via PM from another new user who must have seen my first post and wanted to know how I figured it out. Perhaps others will see this if the problem persists.

    CaptSteve,

So I take it this problem has been resolved? In order to activate an account you need to confirm via the link sent to your email address after registering. A lot of times this email ends up in a spam folder.

No. I clicked the link but that still didn't work.

Then explain what was causing the problem and how it was solved so others who can read but not post can try what you did.

Yup, that was the entire reason I created the thread!

I already said it.... If you follow the link provided in the email when registering, 99 out of 100 times it should work. If you register and don't reply to that email you are classified as "user awaiting confirmation" and won't be able to post. If you did confirm registration via the email link and it still doesn't work, email us and we'll look into it. I see you were able to post this thread prior to any action on our end, so I take it there is no issue.
