7 Confirmed Dead After Ferry Sinks in the Philippines

The Philippine Coast Guard reports today that 7 have been confirmed dead after a boat carrying 27 passengers sank yesterday morning.

The boat Sirana was reportedly on its way from Sipangkot Island, Sibutu to Bongao, Tawi-Tawi when it foundered in heavy seas.  Of the 27 people aboard, 15 were rescued, with 7 confirmed dead and 5 still missing.
Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Navy and Philippine National Police are continuing their search and rescue operations today.
