Jahre Marine AS signed a new building contract today with the chinese shipyard Avic Dingheng for building the first seagoing LNG carrier for bunkering and small scale distribution. The LNG vessel cargo tank capacity is 6200 cbm.
“Avic Dingheng Shipyard has long experience and knowledge in building LNG, LPG and Ethylen carriers as well as product and chemical carriers. ” Said shipyard spokesman Ni Zhimin.
The LNG vessel has an innovative cargo tank solution with non-pressurized IMO A tanks developed and delivered by Torgy LNG AS. Rolls-Royce Marine AS designed the propulsion system to pull LNG from aft cargo tank and feed the engine.
Jahre Marine AS has a signed time charter contract for the vessel and financial support was received from both Norway’s NOx Fund and from the Innovation Norway’s Environmental Technology Funding project.
