Viking Supply Ships’ heavy duty ice-class AHTS Brage Viking has won a major charter contract today which will keep it employed for at least the next 2 years and 8 months with an undisclosed oil major. The charter contract, according to the vessel owner, is valued at around USD $100 million and includes options to extend the charter for an additional 18 months.
Christian Berg, CEO of Viking Supply Ships says in a phone call the vessel will have “technical upgrades” made to it prior to the commencement of the contract which will cost in the range of USD $5 to $7 million and require a 4 week yard period. He could not go into specific detail what those technical upgrades entailed however.
