IMC has a very complete post on alternative energy ideas for harnessing power from our oceans. They tell us;

Wave power refers to the energy of ocean surface waves and the capture of that energy to do useful work – including electricity generation, desalination, and the pumping of water (into reservoirs). Wave power is a form of renewable energy. Though often co-mingled, wave power is distinct from the diurnal flux of tidal power and the steady gyre of ocean currents. Wave power generation is not a widely employed technology, and no commercial wave farm has yet been established (although development for the first commercial wind farm in the Orkneys are well under way).

    I thought the wave dragon was kind of an inefficient system for the complexity and foot print. I found a company I think had a better solution to using the wave energy with simple parts and a foot print that would not look to annoying. I also had the idea of what if they converted some of our navigation buoys into wave power generators. See Finavera

    (It would be nice if we could edit our comments for corrections)

    The first link is for the companies website with a promo video and the second link is a YouTube video of the installation of the AquaBuOY is a Finavera Renewables AquaBuOY 2.0 that is currently working just off the coast of the state of Oregon.

    A nice video. Thanks for posting. Wave energy is the one of the energy source that can be utilized best by countries who are having wide sea coast area.

    Really oceans are bringing large power in them and if we can get some energy from there it will be great success for us and will keep our planet alive.
